Patrol Division
The Patrol Division consists of four teams of fully certified law enforcement officers who are responsible for patrolling all unincorporated areas of Harrison County. All patrol officers are uniformed and drive fully marked vehicles.
All patrol officers are required to be certified as Law Enforcement Officers by the Mississippi Board of Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training before being allowed to perform unsupervised patrol duties. Under most circumstances, patrol officers come from the ranks of non-sworn positions within the Sheriff’s Department lateral transfers from other law enforcement agencies, or become eligible though the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Civil Service Commission.
Mounted Unit
The mounted unit works in partnership with the community to provide search and rescue services in a responsible manner through innovation, leadership, and the cooperation of dedicated people.
Mounted Patrol members and their horses also present themselves as good role models for children and adults. Members also participate in various parades, safety fairs, special events and in the patrol of high crime rate areas.
